Sunbather Run Over

In a rare event, a sunbather at Daytona Beach, Florida was run over. Apparently, Volusia County beach patrol officer, Robert Augustynowski, was working the beach in his pickup truck. He never saw Danielle Taylor, 20, who was sunbathing on the beach—even though he was only going about 2.5 miles an hour. As a result, Augustynowski ran over Taylor with his pickup truck.

According to Kim Miller, an FHP spokeswoman, “Two of the tires rolled over her shoulder and her hip. She started screaming and rolled over, and that’s when he saw her.” The incident happened in the afternoon. The beach was full with beachgoers who were taking advantage of the Independence Day weekend. Beach Patrol Capt. Scott Petersohn said the area of the incident was “one of the beach’s busiest.”

According to Petersohn, Taylor was “awake” when paramedics were on the scene. She was transported for Halifax Medical Center. No other information on Taylor’s injuries is available to the public at this time. Officer Robert Augustynowski will face a $115 fine—a small price to pay.
